WHY SPAIN?

Spain is located in southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. It is mainly surrounded by water (Mediterranean Sea to the east and south and the Atlantic Ocean to the north and northwest). This fact combined by its privileged Mediterranean weather makes Spain as one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe.

The Mediterranean climate is composed of dry, hot summers and winters with mellow temperatures and irregular rainfalls. This weather can changed lightly depending on the distance to the sea. In the cities close to the sea this climate is less extreme when compared to the ones in the interior.

Spain is also well known by its Mediterranean food. The cuisine is healthy and it is usually cooked with the famous Spanish olive oil. Each region has its own specialties; the seafood and fish close to the sea, cold soups in the warmest regions, meat in the interior… And we cannot forget the famous Tapas. These varied minimeals are usually eaten while having something to drink in bars.

If you are looking for something more than just good weather, Spain has a vast and fascinating cultural heritage. In the Iberian Peninsula have lived several civilitations, from the first hominids 1.2 million years ago, to the Romans, Muslims, or the French empire. Spain counts with numerous of the most prestigious art pieces in the World; Picasso’s and Dali’s paintings, Gaudi’s buildings (with the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona still to be finished), Muslim buildings like the Alhambra (Granada) or the Mezquita (Cordoba), or some of the most iconic buildings in recent Architecture like the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, or the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia.

Spain has also a very diverse ecology. From the volcanic desserts of Almeria, till the Mountain peaks in Sierra Nevada or the Pirineos. Spain counts with several parks declared by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Culture Organization) Biosphere Reserves, like Doñana Park or the Teide National Park in the Canaries. But certainly what makes Spain so popular among tourist is its uncountable beaches. Spain counts with thousands of kilometers of different kinds of beaches; virgin, big and open, small and isolated, rocky, or even nudist if that is what you are looking for.

All of these makes Spain the number one holiday destination in United Kingdom and many other countries. If you want to enjoy good weather and food, have fun practicing sports, learn about our history, visit unique places, go out or just relax, Spain is for you.
